With a cup of joe in hand
He’s got a job to do and
It’s killing time, killing time
With all the comforts of home;
It’s killing time, killing time
‘Cause eradicating bugs ain’t no crime.

Sitting in his naugahyde barcalounger
He thinks it’s just a game where a killer
Watches death play out live and in color.

Still, the first death is almost the hardest,
If reality sinks in, whether reality sinks in;
Then the next death is certainly the easiest;
If he’s in. And when you’re in, you’re in.

Oh baby girl, to give you a safe world,
We’ve planted our prayer in a field,
With a picture hoping to be heard:
“You’re not a bug splat upon a windshield.”

Never has death been so silent,
Menacing like a predator, like a reaper,
Hiding behind a button in guise of a judgment.
Never has death flown so much farther,
But don’t let the blue skies fool you,
He’s still there watching you,
But will he truly see you?

Oh baby girl, to give you a safe world
We’ve planted our prayer in a field
‘Cause never should you be, in any world,
A simple bug splat upon a windshield.

Against the day when hell and fire are one,
We planted your picture as our love cry
Upon a field and hopefully on a screen.
Will it be loud enough to be seen
By the eyes in the sky?
Will it be loud enough to be seen
And touch their heart if they have one?
I ask you who is the drone:
The predator or the operator?
Where does real bravery lie?

Oh baby girl, to give you a safe world
We’ve left our prayer in a field
So you won’t follow us out of this world
As a bug splat upon a windshield.
